Job Description for Systems Engineer - Ford

This position is part of our Signal & Power Solutions segment, Electrical Distribution Systems business unit.

Summary:

We have an exciting opportunity for a Wiring Electrical Systems Engineer that will be located in Troy, MI.

Responsibilities:

• Interface with customer engineers to establish vehicle electrical requirements.
• Translate customer requirements into design information for Aptiv internal use.
• Support electrical system build (lab) events at customer site.
• Troubleshoot system issues at customer site.
• Support cost reduction initiatives.
• Work with designers to incorporate electrical design information into 3D files.
• Ensure compliance with customer specific requirements.
• Willing to travel to Aptiv manufacturing sites in Mexico and customer sites, up to 10%.

Must Haves (Basic Qualifications):

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or STEM.
• 3+ years of experience with an understanding of vehicle electrical systems.
• 2 + years functional knowledge of wiring harness design (power and signal distribution systems).
• Experience using Microsoft Office Suite (PPT, Excel, etc.).

Nice to Haves (Preferred Qualifications):

• Prefer Electrical Engineering degree.
• Logical thinking to solve design issues.
• Good communication skills.
• Open-minded personality to deal with a very dynamic customer.
• Proven team player - willing to help others.
