Job Description for Release Manager

This position is part of our Advanced Safety & User Experience segment in Troy, MI.  Reporting to Customer Engineering Regional Director.

Job Summary:
The System Release Manager is responsible for coordination and management of the release process for multiple independent projects in the area of Advance Driver-Assist Systems and Automated Driving. In this role you will be working with next generation technology intended to improve vehicle safety while enhancing driver convenience.

Our engineers design, develop, and validate advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS) to enhance vehicle safety. Studies show just a half a second more warning can mitigate or prevent 60 percent of accidents. In this role, you’ll be working with several advanced technologies that have the power to prevent accidents and save lives.

Your Role:
Key job functions will include but are not limited to the following:

• Their primary focus is planning and coordination of the vehicle systems engineering activities which are necessary for each release

• The Release Manager works with the customer to understand the overall release schedule from start to production launch and communicates within Aptiv teams

• The Release Manager is the voice to the customer / stakeholder in terms of all vehicle system release and vehicle system testing relevant topics

  • Planning and coordination of the systems engineering activities which are necessary for each release

  • Align Release schedule internally and externally

  • Is responsible that the needed documentation of a system release is created

  • Provide input to the SEMP to define the release strategy

  • Is the voice to the customer / stakeholder in terms of all release and testing relevant topics

  • Verify and Approve Sys Checkout Test

  • Verify and Approve Sys Qual Report

  • Agree on release documentation for releases with customer / stakeholder

  • Release of deliveries in agreement with Project / Platform Owner and Software Quality Assurance

Your Background:

• Bachelor’s degree in a Technical / Engineering Discipline (electrical, systems, computer science, software, computer or related field of study)

• 10+ years of Electronic Systems design and development experience

• 5+ years of full life cycle automotive electronics experience

• 3+ year experience in the technical mentoring and leadership of a project.

• Experience with automotive SPICE

Additional Background Preferences:

• 10+ years of experience in connectivity, infotainment, driver information, and/or telematics systems.

• Experience with Polarion, DOORS, (or similar) as a requirements management tool.

• Experience with Jira, Confluence and collaboration tools

• Experience with embedded software, including AutoSAR, QNX, Embedded Linux, or Embedded C and C++.

• Experience with automotive Systems-on-Chip (SOC) from TI, Renesas, NXP, Qualcomm, Infineon, etc.

• Experience with automotive Cyber Security and Functional Safety requirements.
