Job Description for Software Architect

This role sits within Aptiv’s new product organization, which will be at the forefront of transforming the auto industry with cutting-edge technology.

As a Software Architect, you will be responsible for defining the product vision and requirements with Product Managers. You’ll need to deploy deep engineering knowledge to make critical decisions and communicate with developers. Your architecture plan will have interactions with adjacent product areas and you’ll need to work with other Software Architects to ensure compatibility and optimization at the system level.

Your Role:

• Define product architecture requirements and guide engineering to ensure secure design

• Work closely with Product Management, Product Owners, & Technical Program Managers to translate product vision into a technical product roadmap

• Derive architecture requirements and ensure scalability and testability for the architectural design

• Ability to identify security issues and drive solutions to completion

• Provide technical leadership by ensuring developers remain aligned with the system architecture and technical roadmap throughout the development process

• Assist developers with code reviews and QA engineers in establishing validation/testing strategies

• Collaborate with cross-system architects to ensure compatibility

• Lead cross-functional teams to rapidly build solutions to critical problems that may arise during the course of the development process

Your Background:

• Experience in system architecture design for highly available and complex systems

• Extensive experience in cloud security in two or more of: Azure, AWS, &/or GCP

• Experience with Zero Trust technology, & threat modeling

• Familiarity with digital certificates, encryption, & DevSecOps

• Technical leadership expertise with past experiences driving cross-functional collaboration and successfully managing multiple stakeholders

• Ability to engage with developers in deep technical discussions and quickly ingest difficult technical material to identify meaningful takeaways

Preferred Qualifications:

• Degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, Electrical Engineering, or related field

• Domain expertise in automotive and automotive functional safety requirements (e.g. ISO 26262)

• Extensive understanding of Service Oriented Architecture and POSIX-based embedded systems

• Familiarity with middleware protocols (e.g. MQTT, DDS, SOME/IP) and communication technologies (e.g. CAN, LIN, FlexRay, and Ethernet)
